SAILING INSTRUCTIONS -  “CENTIS CUP"

 

First start: 11 am - Distance 8 nm

  

Start line: Extends between committee boat at the Strawberry Channel Lighthouse and J-20.

 

Course: Marks to starboard, sail easterly to yellow mark, south of West Mary Island, round it to starboard and

then sail southwesterly to J-17 leaving it to starboard, then sail northwesterly to J-19 leaving it to port, then sail

to the finish line between the committee boat and J-20.

 

Course: Marks to port, sail southeasterly to J-19 leaving it starboard, then sail southeasterly to J-17 leaving it

to port,then sail northeasterly to yellow mark, south of West Mary Island leaving it to port, then sail to the finish

line between the committee boat and J-20.

 

Note: The committee boat will announce whether marks are to port or starboard on channel 80, starting 15

minutes prior to the start. The Committee Boat will shorten the course, or call the race at 5:00 pm. All boats left

on the course will receive a place, (2) places after the last boat that finishes within the time limit.

 

Starting Sequence: 5 minutes to first boats start: Class flag shown and 1 sound

4 minutes to first boats start: Preparatory Flag shown and 1 sound

1 minute to first boats start:   Prep flag down and 1 long sound

Start first boat: Class flag down and 1 sound

 After the first start, boats will use their starting time as distributed by the Race

Committee at the skipper’s meeting, sheet # 2 of these instructions.

 

A countdown to the start will also be made on the VHF, however, the flag signals take precedence.

Monitor Ch. 80 for the start and duration of the race for info.

 

Sailboats in White Sail class will be given a 12 sec/mile credit in relation to boats in Spinnaker class for

overall scoring.

 

Meet you at the Little Current Pavilion after the race for flag awards ceremony and BBQ at 6:00 pm.
